The book BOOKED by Kwane Alexander

Booked by Kwame Alexander is a sympathetic and emotional book. The book is very relatable to teenagers going through similar issues and changes. It’s also a poem which can be an attention grabber. It definitely got my attention. It contains a lot of different family and personal problems and shows how easily a person’s life can be changed.

The book is mainly about a teenage boy, Nick Hall, that loves playing soccer, but the problems in his family and a broken bone prevent the young boy from doing what he loves. The young teenager enjoys playing soccer and has loved the sport for years. He starts to question if he is going to continue to play with his best friends when his mother gets a job offer in another state. Luckily, he doesn’t have to move away from his teammates. Unfortunately, his parents do divorce because they can’t handle the separation. The separation of his parents distracts him from school, sports and dance. Later Nick injures his ankle, stopping him from playing soccer, which is the only thing besides April, his crush, that makes him happy. Nick manages to get back on track and live a life he enjoys.

Booked gave me a roller coaster of emotions. It was not only sad, but it was full of surprises, hardships and it even included the right amount of romance. If you are someone who is interested in reading and learning about different obstacles people go through, then this is the book for you. I would recommend this book to teenagers who like to read about personal problems and feelings they can relate to. In conclusion, Booked is an interesting book to read. If I were you, I would read it.
