How to care for sulcata tortoises, dogs, and red-eared slider turtles and keep them healthy

Interesting facts about some of my pets

I have a total of five pets. I have two dogs, one turtle, and two baby sulcata tortoises. They can be a lot to handle sometimes but in the end they are worth it and maybe you’ll get one of these for a pet as well.  I will be stating interesting facts and things you will need to know to care for each to keep them alive and healthy if you ever want one.

Caring for dogs

I have two dogs named Laddy and Rocky. Taking care of dogs is actually a big responsibility. Some people think they just have to feed and play with them but it’s a lot more than that. Dogs need to be fed dog food and be watched most of the time to prevent them from getting hurt or eating something they can’t eat such as chocolate, onion, garlic and more. They also have to be taken to vets once in a while to make sure their shots are up to date to prevent illnesses such as Parvo that can actually kill your dog if it’s not treated right or on time. Taking your dog to the vet can also make sure that they stay healthy. Dogs can live up to 15 years and possibly more if they are being taken care of right.

Caring for turtles

I have one red-eared slider turtle named Lucy and she is happy and healthy. Turtles can actually be pretty easy to care for. All you need to do to keep a healthy and happy turtle is feed it three times a day, clean it’s tank twice a week and take them outside to get some sunshine two times a week. A food that a turtle would love is some dried-up shrimp you can get at a pet store. They can live up to 30 years if maintained in a healthy home. Red-eared slider turtles can also grow up to 12 inches which means they don’t grow too big, they grow about the size of a football.

Caring for tortoises

I have two baby sulcata tortoises named Snappy and Sunny who are adorable and living the best life they could have. Sulcata tortoises are often a lot of work when they are babies because of how delicate they can be. When they are babies they will need a lot of caring and need a lot of space with some hot lightning and some calcium to remain healthy. For mine I have them in a big tank with a heating lamp and a UVB lamp. When they grow big they won’t need as much care as they did when they were babies but will need to be cared for still.

They will usually weigh up to 150 lbs. or more once they are full grown which would be approximately 18 years. They can also live up to 100 years or more if maintained with proper care. Sulcata tortoises eat all sorts of fruits and vegetables. Once in a while it would be good to give them some tortoise diet to make sure they get all their nutrients.
