La Virgen de Guadalupe’s birthday
December 12 is the Virgen de Guadalupe’s birthday.
Maria Anaya, parent of a student at AJCMS said, “We had a nine day rosary, sang, ate, and had mariachi.”
The Virgen is a big deal for many Mexican families. Many people slept overnight at their local church to sing “Las Mananitas” to the Virgen de Guadalupe. Other families went to church that day. Families had ceremonies at their homes for her. For example, Maria Anaya had a rosary in honor the Virgen.

Interesting short read. I do have a question: Isn’t she also celebrated in other Latin American countries that are predominately Catholic? I know that in El Salvador, they praise this day as well, for she is a part of the Catholic faith as well for Latinos.
