8th grade requirements for culminating
Gabriela Cervantes, the school counselor of Animo Jefferson Charter Middle School says that some eighth grade requirements for culmination are not failing any classes, have satisfactory attendance, have a good discipline record, for their parents to have completed their hours, and lastly, owe no debt to the school.
She said, “… But the most important piece is grades, attendance and behavior… The other stuff, we can work with.” Referring to debt, she said, “… we can figure something out, for example, payment plans.”
If the culmination requirements aren’t met, the student will not be able to participate in 8th grade activities, such as the culmination ceremony or field trip to Six Flags Magic Mountain. She also said that if any student is not passing a class, then they will be put on a list to not culminate. However, if they get a C or higher in the 2nd semester for that same class, then they will be taken off the list because their overall grade will average out to a passing grade.
Cervantes also said, “I suggest all students aim for an A. That does not mean that you will all be straight A students but if you try your personal best and reach out to your teachers for assistance when you are struggling you will be able to get a good grade- Much higher than the minimum requirement for culmination.”
Cervantes said, “8th grade requirements help prepare 8th graders for the rigor of high school classes… We want to motivate students to do well throughout the whole school year and earn their fun activities,” and that is why meeting these requirements is important
