New Bus Stops Added Close To Animo
On October 2013, LADOT DASH finished adding new bus stops called DASH Southeast (Pueblo de Rio) because they wanted Animo students to have a shorter and safer walk from school to home.
Susan Bok from LA City Department said, “The request first came to LADOT in March 2013. We implemented the changes in October 2013. So total time between request and implementation was 7 months.”
After being asked by City Council District 9 and Greendot Schools to run closer to the Animo Schools on 27th St., they looked at the extending DASH Southeast route north from 41st St. “We evaluated the request and decided to implement it along with other operational changes that would improve DASH Southeast’s overall service and reliability,” said Bok.
Along with building new bus stops, they began improving the DASH Southeast’s buses. Bok said, “We put several of our newest DASH buses on the route; these buses have security cameras and announcement systems to improve rider safety and convenience.”
The most significant difficulty is turning the buses at some of the tight corners in the neighborhood.
