Let’s Run to East LA
On January 25, 2014, SRLA students ran fifteen miles to East Los Angeles in order to prepare for the upcoming eighteen mile race and other races.
Seventh grade SRLA runner, Jonathan Espinal, thought that this practice was easy. “I am used to running long distances so I thought it wouldn’t make a difference,”Jonathan said. Another seventh grade SRLA runner, Giovanni Cezena, felt very excited going to this practice. “I feel confident running more than thirteen miles because before I only ran up to thirteen miles, but now I feel prepared.” Jonathan felt this practice was easy, but Giovanni disagreed and thought this practice was a little difficult.
All the runners gave their full effort to complete fifteen miles. They had run up to thirteen miles before, but now they are preparing to run eighteen miles by running to East LA and back to the school. The runners now feel more confident because they ran more than thirteen miles and think that they can achieve eighteen miles. Eventually all of the runners finished and left home full of confidence for the eighteen mile race.
