A Journey to Atengo Hidalgo
On our trip to Mexico, we were excited to greet family that we hadn’t seen in a couple of years. There were many different customs that they had; for example, some people got around on horses, and animals such as sheep and cows roamed the streets. There are special celebrations that people celebrate with dances, fireworks, food, and rides for the children to get on. Many people have a cell phone but don’t use it as much as we do. Adults will talk with one another for hours, and children will play on the street with almost anything they can find. They will take a ball and play with it in the streets and they will play for hours. Mexico is a great place to visit for a summer vacation.

I liked your essay, wish you would had added details and pictures about the river, food, and the 1 room jail in downtown Atengo. The first time I went to Atengo to meet my husband’s family, I found myself in culture shock, everything was so different. My morning were amazing, from watching the sunrise to taking the sheep for a walk. It’s so quiet and peaceful in the mornings watching my son help in the corn/cabagge or cutting cilantro in the fields has made him a more humble person. I hope that I can continue to visit this magical place.
