Sophia Corona: Hi, my name is Sophia Corona and I am interviewing my sister Priscilla Corona.
Priscilla Corona: Hola.
SC: What was your childhood like?
PC: Um, it was fun and stressful.
SC: Um, why would you say it was fun and stressful?
PC: It was fun because…no, it was stressful because you know being an older sister and having to take care of a lot of kids and cousins but like the positive part was being able to go out, to like childhood places too because I had young siblings.
SC: Ok, could you tell me about where you grew up and what was it like?
PC: I grew up in Los Angeles, California, in our home that we still are at today..um growing up it was fun I had a lot of our family with us and we were all close because we were young and you know all the kids were together, a lot of adults were together and we just like a family.
SC: Ok, what was one of your best childhood memories?
PC: My best childhood memories was cutting your hair off..um (laughs) I remember we were in the car with mom and I told you not to say anything.. I just snipped your ponytail off (laughs).
SC: Ok um, why would you say that was one of your best memories of all memories?
PC: Cause you hair was so thin and (laughs) I can’t believe I did that, I probably got in trouble but like it was cause you agreed to it, then you snitched me out.
SC: What was one of the worst things you ever did as a kid?
PC: One of the worst things I ever did as a kid was….probably….pull out my hair like right in front.
SC: What would you say..Why would you pull out your hair?
PC: Because I was stressed because of grades and it usually happened during times we were close to parent conferences because our aunt wanted us to have like good grades and then that was just stressful.. scared like I was gonna get in trouble for not having it.
SC: Do you think that her wanting you to have good grades was a positive or a negative outcome one you?
PC: Um….I would say both because it pushed me to try my best but at the same time I would stress a lot and would worry a lot about little things, like it affected the way I would sleep too because I was really worried about what I was gonna do.
SC: Mhm, ok are there any funny memories that your family tells you or any that you remember?
PC: Um can you repeat that question?
SC: Are there any funny memories that your family tells you that come to mind or just funny memories that you have in general?
PC: Um some funny memories that our family tells us is when I was young and I was a baby and I would just crawl around, I was just like an energetic baby and one particular memory that I remember that was funny was ….mm…. maybe when we both ended up breaking our arms, I think it was our arms we both had a cast on around the same time and it was just so funny cause like I don’t know…I don’t know what we were doing as kids.
SC: Ok, if there’s one thing that you would tell your younger self what would it be?
PC: To not stress about things, um she’ll go through everything and it will help her in life a lot… I would also tell her that if things happen just let be, there’s nothing you can change about it, but just to continue with your life and doing new things because what happens will affect her in many ways but it will like set a whole new perspective in life and help here prepare to be the person she’s becoming.
SC: Why would you tell your younger self that?
PC: Because I went through a lot of things that change how I am and I feel like it impacted me in a negative way but again things happened for a reason and it will help you someday.
SC: If you could go back in time and change one thing you did, what would you change?
PC: Um one thing I would change would be….probably that way I was in school because…umm… actually one thing… probably meeting certain people..(gets interrupted).. um one thing I would change would be meeting and talking to certain people because not everyone is like a good person towards you and they won’t be there and help you come up instead they bring you down and like back you down from other things.
SC: Mhm, um do you think your younger self would be proud of you‘ve became?
PC: Um, I believe she would be proud but she wouldn’t be proud of how I got to be who I am.
SC: Why would you say that?
PC: Because like how I said I did things, a lot of things that like a younger girl wouldn’t want to be doing but of who I am now today and how I deal with things, I’m sure she’ll be proud of that.
SC: Ok um, I remember that when you were younger, you said you wanted to be a police officer, do you still want to be one?
PC: Um no but I’m still in the same type of criteria thing I think, it’s like a criminal justice thing but it’s not exactly a police officer.
SC: Why would you say that you want to be a criminal justice thing instead of a police officer?
PC: Um well a police officer is criminal justice but it’s just like a different job and position I would want to be in.
SC: Yeah ok well thank you for your time.
