“The happiest moment of my life was when I won a competition in Guatemala. In this competition, one girl from a different grade would compete to represent their grade. I entered from my teacher. What I remember from this competition was a talent-themed round where girls from different grades would show off their talents. I showed off walking while spinning a hula hoop around my waist. Everyone was glazing me. Since I won, I got a satin sash that said “Niña Independencia.” I don’t remember when but I gave out a speech and ended up crying because I got embarrassed and overwhelmed. This was the happiest moment of my life because it showed that if I tried, I could accomplish.”
