Have you ever wondered why your hair falls out? Have you noticed that when you wash your hair some of your hair comes out?
Hair Loss
There are many reasons why your hair can fall out. Pregnancy, the medication that you are on, you don’t have enough iron, or because you are stressed are just some of the ways you can experience hair loss. According to Web MD, “Iron helps keep your hair healthy. When levels drop, so can your hair.” You can also lose a lot of hair if you are stressed because stress makes our body’s immune system start to attack your hair follicles, causing your hair to break off and thin out.
Lack of protein is one of the many ways that your hair can fall out. However, if you added more meat and beans to your diet, your hair would continue in it’s growth.
Hair Growth
Hair goes through a growth phase called the anagen phase. Most of the time, 90 percent of our hair goes through the anagen phase. Your hair growth phase can be long or short, depending on where your hair grows. For example, your nose hairs, ear hair, and eyelashes only grow for a couple of hundred days, which means that there isn’t enough time for the hair to grow long.
According to the National Library of Medicine, “When the hair has separated completely from the papilla, the supply of blood is cut off in the final resting phase, which is also called the telogen phase. The hair is gradually pushed out of the skin and eventually falls out. The resting phase can last several months. New hair cells then start to multiply at the base of the “empty” hair follicle to form a new hair, and the growth phase of the hair growth cycle starts all over again.”
What You Can Do
There are some ways to get your hair back. You can use medication, hair transplants, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy. Freddie Moore (my father) stated, “Just don’t stress, eat right, and exercise. That way, you can have strong, healthy hair as you get older.” According to Medical News Today, “People who play with their hair may find that it often looks greasier after they have touched it. This happens because they are transferring oil and dirt from their hands onto the hair. Also, when a person scratches, twirls or runs their hands through their hair, they stimulate the oil glands and encourage them to produce more oil.”
Conclusion
In conclusion, be careful with your hair. Be kind to it and it shall be kind unto you.
