On March 18, all of Animo Jefferson went on college field trips. Different classes got different colleges. I interviewed people to find out how their experience was at college.
UCLA:
Melanie Flores went to UCLA. She said, “Something I learned while at UCLA is that they have a garden. Something I found interesting is that they had newspapers all around the campus. I also saw that they had a basketball court, a big track and field, and I also saw people doing some sort of recycling project.”
I asked her if she sees herself going to that school and she said that she kind of sees herself attending going there. However, at the same time she is not sure because her other option is UC Irvine, so if she gets accepted there she wouldn’t attend UCLA.
Dulce Martinez also visited UCLA. She said, “I went to UCLA and the best part about it was probably ummm… the garden, it was very pretty. I did take many pictures mostly of the garden and some of the buildings. Something I learned was that housing was pretty expensive to live on campus and that most people had to pay a lot of money. I also learned that the cafe was very expensive too, like the sandwiches were $10 each. We walked around and looked at the… where they basketball and they said that LeBron James used to practice there and the people from the NFL or whatever it’s called they used to also practice there too. If anyone comes I would recommend the garden and also the library because it was pretty big.”
CSUN:
Yamilet Galvan traveled to Cal State Northridge (CSUN). She said, “something I learned was that the school was in a movie called “Sky High.” Something I found interesting was that students can make their own movies and they have a place where other people can go and view them. I also saw some drawings and paintings and there was this popular one and I think it was about protest. I maybe see myself going there only because they have a lot of vacations and trips.”
LMU:
Kimberly Pastor went to Loyola Marymount University. She said, “something I like was the church and the field outside the church. Something I learned was that the university of LMU is a Catholic school. It was a good experience because I got to spend time with my friends and I liked the environment over there. Me and friends had a picnic at LMU. When we were sitting Jesus almost fell off a chair and if he would’ve he would have fallen a cliff.”
In conclusion, students that went to the field trip had a great time and enjoyed it. Some students are already thinking of which college or university they want to got to and this field trips help students figure it out because they get to see the different college environments.
