Introduction
Every year there are new sets of sixth graders. Some are really excited while others are really frightened for their first year in middle school.
A group of sixth graders shared with us about their first-year experience at AJMS and what they expect to achieve in their next year of middle school. This is important to know to see how it is and feels to be a sixth grader and what they expect in their second year of middle school.
Sixth grade experience
Bellah said that her first year at AJMS was great because she liked how all the teachers here are nice. Zoe thought that her experience at AJMS was positive because she made new friends that made it enjoyable. Liam said that his sixth grade experience at AJMS was cool: he likes the learning environment and people. He also finds the carnivals really fun because of the games.
Katherine also enjoys the activities and carnivals that AJMS does. She likes the board games and making bracelets. Her sixth grade experience has been fun because she has more time to hang out with her friends. What Kaylie liked about her experience at AJMS as a sixth grader was also the activities AJMS has to offer and her friends she has. Paola’s experience has also been good. She enjoys the time she spends with her friends and how the teachers sometimes let her sit with her friends.
Seventh grade expectations
Bellah, Zoe and Liam each had a positive and memorable experience during their first year in AJMS. Bellah expects to learn harder subjects that she’ll master and expects to continue to do her work and be a hard worker in seventh grade. Zoe expects to learn algebra in seventh grade. Liam also expects to learn a lot more difficult math in seventh grade.
Katherine, Kaylie and Paola also had a good experience as sixth graders at AJMS. Katherine expects to learn more difficult math in seventh grade. Kaylie expects to learn more math and science in seventh grade. Paola also expects to learn more science and make more friends in seventh grade.
Conclusion
In conclusion, all of the sixth graders interviewed about their experience at AJMS had a great first year. They enjoyed the carnivals, games, and even liked the teachers. Most of them mentioned that they enjoyed spending time with their friends. They all expect to learn more challenging subjects like math and science their next school year. Sixth grade was a fun experience and seventh will be a learning experience.
