On October 26, 2014 Students Run LA (SRLA) runners finished the 10k (6.2 miles) in the city of La Puente .

7th grade runner, Pirscila Lopez would like to attend to future races with longer distances because she likes challenges.

“I felt good running 6.2 miles because I stayed on pace and got a good time”, Pirscila said. However she expected to see more hills on the 10k.”I prepared for 6.2 miles by attending practice and pacing myself running with music”, Pirscila said.

8th grade runner, Jonathan Espinal felt excited because he wanted to see the difference in his time from the passed 10k to this 10k. “This wasn’t a hard run for me anymore because I had experienced it before and I was pumped up for it”, Jonathan said.  He prepared for 6.2 miles by attending practice everyday.

SRLA coach, Adam Davis ran the 10k race for the first time. ” I felt nervous because I wasn’t sure what pace to run at in order to get a good time,” Davis said. As a coach he felt proud of all the SRLA runners that received a good time. He prepared for the 10k race by practicing with the team. ” I expected to see more runners running in costumes,” Davis said. ” All runs are hard because I go my hardest, but my favorite race is the 15k Universal Backlot Run.

Another 7th grade runner, Anthony Espinal expected to see more people from our school cheering the team on. “I felt proud when I finished the 6.2 miles because it was my first time running it,” Anthony said. He would like to attend to other races in the future for he can see if he is able to finish them in a good time. “For this run I prepared a lot by making sure I put my full effort in the practices and staying active, eating healthy,” Anthony said.

All SRLA runners finished the 6.2 miles. When they finished the race they received a purple shirt and their medal. When they returned to school on Tuesday they wore their shirts and medals to be recognized as the SRLA team from AJCMS and as 6.2 mile finishers.
