Field trip to UC Irvine
Elizabeth Borum prepared a field trip for the 7th graders to UC Irvine for they could see other universities outside Los Angeles.
“When preparing for a field trip, we have to start months in advance,” Borum said.
To prepare for this field it took months in advanced in order to get everything in order. They also have to prepare the lunches for the students in the office. Buses needed to be ordered a month before the field trip. Borum needed to make sure to get substitutes for the teachers who will be going on the field trip and needed to collect permission slips for the students that are going.
Borum also had to figure out which teachers would be able to attend the field trip. She needed teachers that knew the campus well so they can guide them to the right places.
Thomas Lo, a chaperon had to navigate students around the campus.
“As a teacher chaperon I just needed to know the campus well enough to not get lost. I went last year on the trip to UCI and have been there before, so I was confident about navigating the campus,” Lo said.
