First time SRLA runs in the rain
On Saturday,January 10th, the SRLA team ran their second 13.1 mile run, The Southern California Half Marathon at Irvine Woodbridge Plaza but this time they experienced running in different weather.
It started drizzling while the runners were running which was different because it didn’t rain in none of the races from last year.
Seventh grade SRLA runner, Anthony Espinal said, ” I felt weird running while drizzling because I actually thought it was going to be sunny based on what my brother told me from last race of the half marathon.” Anthony said that he liked the rain because it made it easier for him to run, he said it made the floor softer and it refreshed him. ” I felt proud of completing this half marathon because it was my second one and well I really enjoyed the rain and the various types of food, “Anthony said.
Another seventh grade runner, Jocelyn Palacios said, ” I felt energetic while I was running in the rain because it made it easier by the temperature.” Jocelyn started getting tired in the last three miles but overall she enjoyed the cookies given after she completed the race.
Priscila Lopez, seventh grade runner said, ” Running the 13.1 miles was pretty good, I most enjoyed the snacks they were giving out like the pretzels.” Priscila said that this race was fun because the rain distracted her from the pain she was going through and made it easier by cooling her down.
All of the runners finished the 13.1 miles and received their white shirts and medals. When the runners finished they had time to hang out and eat. There were many types of food being given to the runners like cookies, bread, pizza, ice cream, fruit, energy drinks, and many other things.
