At the gymnasium on October 22nd, representatives from Animo Jackie Robinson, Animo Oscar De La Hoya, Animo Ralph Bunche, and Animo Pat Brown High Schools came to give applications to parents of eighth graders and students in order to enroll into their high schools.
Representatives from each school all said they have good clubs. For example, they offer soccer, cheerleading, leadership groups, and they have Advanced Placement classes which can help you receive college credit.
Animo Jackie Robinson’s motto is “If you stick with us, we’ll stick with you,” says Cecilia Leyva, the parent coordinator at that school. Tirsa Barbero, the office manager at Animo Pat Brown said, ”We are…setting high expectations for our students the moment they become part of our school.” She also said, “We provide them a way to get there. ” Sara Pena, the parent coordinator at Animo Ralph Bunche, said that the essentials to prepare for college are ” You don’t fail English and math classes.” Nallely Bravo, the parent coordinator from Animo Oscar De La Hoya says since Animo schools are smaller, that makes them more family oriented.
