On January 2, 2018 entertainment superstar Logan Paul published a video that sparked a backlash with footage involving him in Japan’s Suicide Forest “vlogging” a victim.

After, he left the platform known as YouTube for a month, returning with a video apologizing for his actions and asking for forgiveness his community and viewers. He published another video explaining how he searched to further understand the importance of suicide and raise awareness for the cause. However, some feel as though his action are unjustified and cannot be forgiven.

Jesus Cruz, seventh grader at Animo Jefferson and an anti-Logan Paul fan said, “Logan Paul could’ve put down the camera! He has an editor, couldn’t he have taken the footage out? I think he should just stop trying to help with the whole suicide thing. He’s always been doing dumb stuff that are considered vandalism and illegal. I think that even so, at least he’s doing something positive by raising awareness for suicide but I still wouldn’t give him a second chance for NOTHING.”

YouTube’s largest content creator Pewdiepie believes Paul faked a near-death experience when he went skydiving. Paul went skydiving and his main parachute didn’t open while falling to which Pewdiepie states that he doesn’t believe it and simply thinks Paul had another parachute with him. Pewdiepie believes the “near death experience” to simply be a way to increase his fame as Logan Paul would be forgiven because he now would understand the significant importance of death and suicide.

Logan Paul fan, Kevin Bermudez, an eighth grader at Animo Jefferson, said, “Although I am a fan of him, he could’ve not posted the footage and shown respect to the body. He deserves a second chance because although he made the mistake, he seems to have realized the consequences behind it. Especially to his younger audience, he’s showing that he’s learned and wants to help the cause by donating to suicide prevention organizations.”

Fabiola Campuzano, eighth grader at Carver Middle School said, “The video shows him laughing and making jokes with his friends demonstrating how ignorant and childish he is. He had no respect for the victim.  He could’ve at least acted serious in the video but I don’t think he deserves a second chance anyway. Hashtag Logan Paul’s career is dead, R.I.P. the ‘Logang.’ ”
