Are the eighth graders ready for high school?
With culmination only a few weeks away, eighth graders at Animo Jefferson are getting ready to say goodbye to middle school and hello to high school.
Many of the eighth graders at AJCMS are going their own separate ways. Choosing the right high school can be very difficult for some because there are a lot of things that you have to put into consideration. The transition from middle school to high school can also be very difficult.
Here are a few 8th Graders at Animo Jefferson and their thoughts on going to High School:
Liset Saligan, eighth grader at Animo Jefferson Charter Middle School, said,“ Choosing a high school was very difficult because I looked at the schools that benefited my academic improvement. The schools I looked at were Quantum, Diego Rivera, Freemont, Santee, Hawkins, and Oscar De La Hoya.” She also said, ” I was looking for schools with good soccer teams because that’s what I want to dedicate my life to.”
When asked if she was ready for high school, Liset said, “ I do believe I am ready for high school because I have learned a lot these past three years at Animo Jefferson and feel prepared to tackle any challenges that come my way.”
Kimberly Camacho, another eighth grader at Animo Jefferson said, “ I do not think I am ready for high school, mainly because I do not have the same knowledge others will have in the math department, so I will lack knowledge due to not being given all the information I needed to learn.” Kimberly did not have a regular math teacher in eighth grade and instead had a rotation of subs.
Kimberly also said, “ Due to me recently finding out that I’ll be moving during summer, the high school in which I’ll be attending is still not decided on.” Right now, Kimberly said she is most likely moving to Riverside or Moreno Valley.
Ayline Orihuela, also an eighth grader at Animo Jefferson, said, “ Some lady that works in my apartments helps parents choose high schools for their kids so my dad asked her for help and that’s how I chose my high school.” When asked what high school she was going to her response was, “ I am going to Downtown Magnets High School.” “I don’t know the name of the lady but I do know it’s her job to go around helping others.”
If you’re an eighth grader, do you think you are ready for high school? Let us know by taking the poll.
