School Lockdown

On Tuesday, May 22nd, there was a lockdown during lunchtime at AJCMS. A helicopter kept going around the school a couple times which meant that students needed to go inside school and continue the lockdown procedures. Security hurried the students from lunch to class. Students tried to hurry to enter class in time before teachers locked the doors. Teachers had to lock the doors, cover the window, and turn off the light. Students had to sit as far away from the door as possible, just incase a person decided to come inside any classroom and threaten students.

Reyna Manriquez, 13 years old and an AJCMS student, says that she was calm during the lockdown since she didn’t have to worry about anything. “Yes, Mr. Lo did follow all of the procedures. He locked the door, turned off the lights, made us go to the side of the room, and told the class to be silent. Mr. Lo also blocked the window.” These procedures are important to keep students and the teacher safe from any threats.

Joy Flores, 13, another student at AJCMS, says she was scared because she thought something bad was going to happen to the students at AJCMS. “Mr. Alvarado followed the lockdown procedures by locking the doors and turning off the lights. He also told us to be silent and covered the window and [told us to] go to the walls. “

Lastly, Brian Robles, 13, an AJCMS student as well, said,  “During the lockdown I was calm and collected because I knew nothing bad was going to happen. Nothing bad ever happens during a lockdown.” He also said, “My teacher did follow the procedures. However there were too many students for her [Ms.Gonzalez] to take control of. She couldn’t quiet down the class.” Some teachers had students that wouldn’t follow directions because they were too noisy since they just came from lunch.

Luckily, nothing happened during this lockdown and students and teachers were safe.
