Many people struggle with mental health issues

Mental health illness is a very common thing many people have. It’s a condition that affects your mood, life, thinking, and your behavior. Mental illness can also cause less enjoyment in the things you used to like, cause family conflicts, relationship difficulties, and just ruin your happiness. There are many mental health illnesses such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, and more.

Although people may think and say that mental illness isn’t hard or difficult, it actually is very difficult. Mental illness can make you deal with difficult feelings like guilt and cause you to self-blame and be critical to yourself, it can also make you worry about how others will react. 

Celebrities also struggle with mental illnesses. One celebrity who has a mental illness is Lady Gaga. According to the article, “10 CELEBRITIES WHO STRUGGLE WITH MENTAL HEALTH“, Lady Gaga is an American singer and actress who struggles with PTSD. Lady Gaga has PTSD due to the old past trauma of when she was raped at 19. She has struggled to talk about it until she opened up about it in 2014 during an interview.

Another celebrity who has a mental illness is Oprah Winfrey. The article “9 Famous People and Celebrities with Social Anxiety Disorders” states that Oprah Winfrey, who is an American talk show host, television producer and an actress, struggles with anxiety due to sexual abuse she got during her childhood. Oprah inspires many people when she opens up about her anxiety and trauma because it shows people that when you do open up it is very helpful and it makes you feel a lot better instead of holding all of your problems inside.

One other celebrity who struggles with a mental illness is Adele. According to the page, “About Mental HealthAdele, who is an English singer and songwriter, struggles with anxiety and depression. Adele has really bad anxiety and has frequent panic attacks.  She once had a panic attack while performing and vomited from how bad her anxiety got. Adele also has postpartum depression after giving birth to her son since she didn’t take any medication during her pregnancy.

How can you help some one with mental health issues? Don’t be judgmental of their thoughts or feelings, try to be patient with them. Don’t disregard or challenge the person’s feelings or try to make it a competition. Take there feelings and thoughts seriously and ask them if there is anything you can do to help. 

One way you can help yourself if you struggle with a mental illness, you can talk about your feelings. Talking about your feelings helps because you can let all your emotions and thoughts that you’ve been keeping to yourself out. Don’t let anybody treat you badly or ruin your mental state more. And try your hardest to find something that makes you happy or gives you motivation so you can stay active.

According to counselor Laura Gutierrez, “Always seek someone to talk to for help. Most schools have counselors or have someone who is professional in that area. So here you have a counselor, you have a psychologist, and there are also hotlines that you can call so don’t hesitate to reach out for help if you feel like you’re not having a good time don’t wait for things to progress.”
