The Proud Family is about a girl named Penny Proud who’s African American and lives with her parents Oscar Proud, Trudy Proud, and her grandma Suga Mama. She hangs out with her friends, Dijoney Jones, Zoey Howzer, LaCienega Boulevardez, and Sticky Webb, Penny’s buddy. They go on adventures, like in “Camping Trip” (S2 Ep7) where Oscar and LaCienega’s Dad, Feilx Boulevardez, plan to go on a camping trip. But, they get lost along the way and crash in a river bed that seems to be dry and ancient. 

However, one of their friends, Duke Anoi, noticed nature’s signs of possible danger like the animals running out the forest and storm clouds and insisted that they get to high ground since there was going to be a storm. All of Penny’s friends went to high ground except Penny because she believed her dad that the river bed was ancient and wouldn’t flood. Then, all of a sudden they hear a loud boom and Oscar rushes to see what’s going on and sees a huge wave of water and goes back inside. 

After that happened Oscar was still in the river and Penny, Sunset Boulevardez, LaCienega’s mom, Felix, and Trudy got wet. Everyone was mad and then Oscar and Felix went exploring and found dinosaurs. They were so hungry they started imagining each other as food. They were hopeless and lost when a mother dinosaur all of sudden picked them up thinking they were its children and they lasted the whole day in the dinosaur’s nest until the night. Then they decided to escape from the nest and got a boat to go down the river. Then they both got out of the boat and Penny popped out the bush, happy to see them again. 

She asked them to follow her and showed Oscar and Felix their camp and she asked them to stay longer. When they got home Sunset went to the Proud’s house to ask if Felix was there because he was “Going to hang out with his brothers.” Oscar says “No,” then shows Felix being fed worms while the baby dinosaurs are tied up. Then the episode ends.

And that’s it! I would recommend this show since it has a little fantasy and is mainly based more on one character and doesn’t change the plot. Also, the main character never changes how they act just to fit someone’s list. The Moral in the end usually ends with Penny either getting lectured by her parents or him feeling accomplished.

In addition, this show might just be better than others because other shows usually change the plot each episode and then it gets boring, but this one doesn’t.  In each episode she is always hanging out with her friends. This show also has a lot of diversity because most of the characters are African American, like Penny, Sticky, Trudy, Oscar, Bobby Proud, Oscar’s brother that still lives with them, Dijoney, and Suga Mama. This show matters because it was iconic during the 90’s and 2000’s and many kids look up to Penny as a figure as an activist, a good-hearted person, and someone who is kind in each episode.
