Dealing with drug addiction
Most of the people who consume drugs are using them to “help” their mental health without realizing that it affects their health and they’re just slowly killing themselves.
While interviewing a few people, I had noticed that most of them said very similar things about drugs or their experience using them. One of the questions that I’ve asked past drug addicts is, how did you fight the urge of consuming something if you did it everyday?
In one of my interviews my neighbor had said, “There was a point in my life where I was taking something everyday and I noticed that I couldn’t stop doing it even when I tried to stop. The main reason on why I consumed drugs was to make me feel happy cause I would be sad most of the time and I just felt like it helped me get through my day quicker. Although it did affect me in multiple ways, I would barely go out and socialize with people and it even got to a point in where my appetite was bad.”
Another person I interviewed explained how they overcame the need of using drugs. They had said, “When I noticed that I was overdoing it, I started off by throwing away all the stuff I had I would mainly keep myself entertained with what I enjoyed doing which helped me a lot.”
According to https://nida.nih.gov/publications/drugs, “People with addiction often have one or more associated health issues, which could include lung or heart disease, stroke, cancer, or mental health conditions. Imaging scans, chest X-rays, and blood tests can show the damaging effects of long-term drug use throughout the body.” This whole article tells us about what drugs can do to you physically and mentally.
In another article published by https://www.health.gov.au/health-topics/drugs/about-drugs/what-are-the-effects-of-taking-drugs, states, “Each drug causes different physical reactions, depending on the type of drug. Some will make you feel more awake, alert and energetic. Others will give you a calm, relaxed feeling. Some alter your perceptions and can cause hallucinations. Others may make you feel numb.”
At the end of the day, all types of drugs are bad for you and a few people wont acknowledge the fact that its bad in every single way and that once you start doing it on a daily its hard to stop.

My wife fell into the addiction of drugs (Pills) and we all as a family suffered my 4 kids went through some awful shit seeing their mom falling, arguing and running away from home to seek pills. She went to 4 rehabs to 3 different states, it was our darkest moment of our lives.
Today, I’m happy to say wife is a recovering addict and today she looks back the things she done and appreciates us for sticking through tuff times. I always wanted her to get better I was real close to kick her out to the streets cause I was stressing at home and at work. Lost couple of jobs cause of her addiction. I feel for families that are going through the only advise I have for them is not to give up and be hopeful that things will be better.
