One weekday morning in March of 2020 at 7:30 AM in South Los Angeles, a 13-year-old boy named Abraham Trejos that attended AJMS was struck and killed by a car.

Abraham was down the street from his house. He was walking in the crosswalk on a green light. He was on his way to school when he was struck by a vehicle turning left on the green light on Woodland Ave., hitting him while he was in the middle of the crosswalk.

The woman pulled over as she realized what happened, but by then it was too late.

Abraham was English teacher Carl Finer’s student when he was in the sixth grade.

Finer said, ”It was a shock when we heard about the news.”

Teachers were called into an emergency meeting.

“I had Abraham as a student in sixth grade so we were all kinda shocked. We were in disbelief and denial, I hadn’t heard anything until I walked into that meeting,” Finer mentioned.

According to People.com, Abraham Trejos died on scene due to a cardiac arrest, even though bystanders tried their best performing CPR on him.

Math teacher David Aleman was a teacher at the time of the incident and had this to say. “I didn’t know who he was but it still impacted me because it’s still one of our students who came to AJMS and I was really  surprised, it was a very sad thing to happen.”

Abraham would have turned 16 in May 2023. Our hearts go out to his family. He didn’t deserve what happened to him. He was only 13-years-old when he died. We made this article in loving memory of Abraham Trejos.
