Only 25% of domestic crimes are reported to the police. Most cases are never reported.

According to Domesticviolencestatistics.org every nine seconds a woman in the US is being assaulted or beaten. This website also states that more than 3 women everyday are murdered by their husband or boyfriend. Most of the time a women that has gotten abused has been abused by a member of their own family. Most women are abused by their current or former partner.

One in three women and one in six men while be sexually assaulted in their life time. College aged women are at a higher risk to be sexually assaulted. About 73% of people who have been raped know who the predator was (Only six percent of the rapists will spend a day in jail). Some women trusted the person who had raped her.

Attorney Maria Anaya, also parent of a student at AJCMS, said, “In the last six months we have only got six cases of rape reported to us.” Maria also said that they have attorneys that deal with physical and emotional abuse.

Aggy Barbero, parent of a student at AJCMS said that she has worked on 500 and 50 of the abusers have gotten caught.

1.3 million women are assaulted by their partner every year. Half  of the time a women is abused they do not report it because it is between the family. Usually the abuser is the father or brother.

Www.ywca.org states that African American women experience domestic violence more than White women. This site also states that LAtinas will be raped 7.9% of the time, they will be physically hurt 21.2% of the time. More than of the rapes occur before age 18, only 22% of the time rapes happen to someone before the age of 12.

Every two minutes a rape happens, every three minutes a rape is attempted.

YWCA wants people to know that if they are ever being assaulted, not to be embarrassed to make a scene. Also, to do whatever you need to do, if you believe it would keep you safe.
