According to the Parnall and Adams law, their definition of deceptive marketing is when a company misleads a buyer and changes a buyer’s mind on a product or service that is being offered. This overall affects the customers because sometimes this can result in injuries because a cheap product is not always the best thing.

Also a seller can be held criminally responsible for deceptively marketing a product. He or she may face a fine of up to $5,000 and six months of imprisonment on a first conviction. So deceptive marketing is a very serious crime which can be making you face time. 

Some ways you can try to spot a false advertisement is when you spot an over-exaggerated claim. This helps companies when  they’re trying to sell anything that they have. But not over-exaggerating also helps you keep the trust of your customers. Also if you have competitors, you should avoid competing through participating in deceptive marketing, according to Commit Agency.

Also when you’re selling something, be transparent about what you’re selling. Anything that you’re selling should include descriptive details on what the product does or how it looks. These should include features that the customers look for the most when buying.

The most common type of advertising is when ads try to promote a item and lie about the price or give misleading information of an item due to them trying to sell their product. Also the Federal Trade Commission, which enforces laws against deceptive advertising practices, reports that ads must fully disclose the price that a consumer can be expected to pay for a product and present any discounts, sales or markdowns in an honest way. For example, if an advertisement claims that a product’s price has been lowered 20 percent, but the advertised product never sold at a higher price, the ad may be deceptive, as said by Chron.

In conclusion, all that deceptive marketing leads to is a fail for your company. If you ever want to start in business there are better ways to advertise products than to lie to your customers about your prices or even on what you are trying to sell, such as giving very descriptive detail on your product. Instead of lying, show your customers that your products are reliable to get their trust.
