SRLA runner Priscila’s father volunteered to bring and make the carne asada.

On November 22, the SRLA team spent their Saturday morning running about 10 miles at Magic Johnson Park to prepare for the upcoming half marathon and after running, they had a cookout.

Eighth grade runner, Jonathan Espinal said, “This practice is going to help me by getting my legs to run longer distances.” For Jonathan it was easy to run the 10 miles because he is used to running long distances. “I felt so fat because I ate a lot. The thing I most enjoyed was that  I had company while running and the food at the end,” Jonathan said.

Seventh grade runner, Jocelyn Palacios said, “This practice was kind of hard because we ran a lot.” However she was excited to run because at the end there was going to be a cookout.  “I enjoyed spending time at the park with the team and eating after we ran,” Jocelyn said.

Another eighth grade runner, Andy Espinoza said, “This practice was hard for me because I don’t really like running in the morning, but I liked eating at the end with the team.”

SRLA coach, Adam Davis said, “The loops were easy to run because there were no hills involved. The food I most enjoyed was the carne asada because it was a pile of cow,” Davis said. He thinks that the park is a good place to run because not only is it a nice place but the team can run more or less together.

After practice, students ate tostadas of chicken salad, carne asada, hotdogs, chips, cookies and burgers. They had time to spend with the team at the park either playing or taking a walk around the park.
