The Golden Dot Awards took place on March 15 at the Skirball Center, and teachers from Animo Jefferson Charter Middle School were nominated as the finalists.

The four nominated finalists were  history teacher Gabriela Dampier, English teacher Carl Finer, school counselor Gabriela Cervantes, and school security guard Andrew Figueroa. Teachers from other Green Dot schools were also nominated as finalists. Dampier said there were about four nominees  for every Green Dot school.

Dampier said, “I hope I can do my best to represent our school at the dotties.”

Finer said he was having a really bad day the day he learned that he was nominated and said, “I didn’t really feel like I deserved  to be nominated, but then I was happy when I saw the list because  I recognized the names of other people.”

The Golden Dot Awards are held once a year for staff who exemplify Green Dot’s core values.
