For many years, the zombie apocalypse has been portrayed in many horror films and many people have never considered the possibilities of it actually occurring. Many believe that an unknown disease will cause this event and many also believe that it could also be some kind of mind control that will cause the stumbling, moaning and grunting walkers to become a reality.

Eighth grader, Chris Ramirez, believes that there is a possibility of the zombie apocalypse happening because scientists will do a really dumb experiment.

Kevin Carranza, sixth grader, believes that the zombie apocalypse will begin with a science experiment gone very wrong.

Eighth grader, Moises Lopez, said, “I don’t really think so. It’s not possible, but if there was I would go Resident Evil style on [the zombies].”

Some ways that the zombie apocalypse can become a reality is through a fungus known as the cordyceps (such as the Ophiocordyceps Unilateralis) that transfers a parasite into the host’s (usually an insect) head and will take complete control over the host and will make them climb a tree and stay there where the fungus will grow out from the insects’ body. Many scientists believe that if this fungus continues to evolve, the spores that the cordyceps spread into the air will be strong enough to take over that of a human’s brain and will do the same thing as an insect besides the part of climbing a tree.

Another way that many believe that the zombie apocalypse can occur by is through neurotoxins. One example of this occurring was in Haiti when a man (Clairvius Narcisse) was declared dead by two doctors and was buried in 1962 then, eighteen years later he was seen wandering around the village with absolutely no memory.
