Students really like fast food, such as Wingstop, In-N-Out, Raising Canes, and McDonald’s. Therefore I tried out some of the most popular places to see if they are really worth the hype or if they are overrated.
Wingstop
In an informal student poll, Wingstop was the most popular fast food restaurant. Wingstop is known for their wings: it is in the name. The students that said Wingstop would say they really liked the original hot wings with ranch.
Therefore, that’s what I got with some fries and a drink. There are of course many other flavors. Overall, the wings were very good but nothing special to them. However, what stood out to me was the fries: the fries had a very memorable flavor with the amount of seasoning it had, unlike any that I have ever tasted.
I would recommend Wingstop for those who like wings, but especially for the fries.
In-N-Out
In-N-Out was another very popular fast food restaurant in the student survey. However, the thing that they would say was their favorite was the french fries and the milkshakes.
The burger was very good, although it wasn’t that unique other than the spread in it.
The fries were good and I could see why students like it. In-N-Out fries did not have overwhelming seasoning but were not to bland either.
The milkshake was very very sweet and had to be one of my favorites at In-N-Out.
I would totally recommend this place for students who haven’t tried it, but overall In-N-Out is worth the hype.
Raising Canes
Raising Canes was very popular among students of all grades. I got the box combo, which contains four chicken tenders.
The thing about Canes is that its very simple and direct with its food. There wasn’t anything special about the chicken tenders or the fries or the bread. However, the thing that made them taste unique was the Raising Canes sauce. The Raising Canes sauce made the whole meal taste better, it gave it more flavor to the blandness the meal had without it.
Raising Canes is very overrated: there is literally nothing special about it and is just bland.
McDonald’s
Surprisingly McDonald’s was not in my poll’s top three. The students who did say McDonald’s was their favorite said that the fries are really good. A lot also said that the chicken nuggets were good.
I got the McChicken with fries and chicken nuggets along with the blue Icee.
The fries were good. I think that McDonald’s fries are what make them stand out because they are very good, crispy and just well made. The chicken nuggets were good but nothing really stood out. Same with the McChicken: it just tasted like a chicken sandwich.
I would recommend the fries and chicken nuggets, but the burgers are only okay. I think McDonald’s burgers are overrated, but the french fries are totally worth it.
