The Chivas’ Liga MX season ended with a record of 11 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses. The Chivas season ended after they lost to Cruz Azul 2-1 (3-4 aggregate) in the semi-finals.
Chivas’ biggest rival is America.
America fan and eighth grader Christian Fuentes feels good about Cruz Azul defeating Chivas.
He said, “Well I felt very relieved because Cruz Azul hasn’t won in a long time and they deserved it.”
The Chivas Liga MX Clausura started back on January 10 where in their first game Chivas defeated Pachuca to start the season on top of the standings. Chivas remained in first place for most of the season but Pumas took the lead on April 25th against Pachuca and stayed there all the way until the Liga MX season ended.
At the end of the Liga MX regular season there is the Clausura tournament where only eight of the league’s 18 teams play together in a knockout tournament.
Chivas’ next tournament:
Even though they were knocked out of the Liga MX Clausura tournament, Chivas will play next in the Leagues Cup tournament.
According to LAFC, the Leagues Cup will run from August 4 through September 6 and feature 36 clubs – all 18 LIGA MX teams and 18 qualified MLS clubs. All 54 matches in phase One along with the quarterfinals will feature LIGA MX vs. MLS matchups. Some of the standout teams in the tournament include defending Leagues Cup champion Seattle Sounders, top-rated LIGA MX Club Toluca, 2025 MLS Cup Champion Inter Miami, and 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup winner Cruz Azul and runner-up Vancouver Whitecaps.
Future teams Chivas will play against:
Chivas will be placed in West Group 2, where they will face Los Angeles Football Club on August 5 at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.
Chivas fan and eighth grader Gabriel Alcantara wants to go to that game. He said, “it could be interesting and exciting because Chivas are going against our city’s team.”
After playing LAFC, Chivas will then go against FC Dallas on August 8th in San Jose and Seattle Sounders on August 12, 2026 at Lumen Field in Seattle.
