Ms. Hong creates a potluck for the SRLA team

Students Run LA (SRLA) had a potluck on Thursday after their practice to celebrate that they were going to do the marathon.

Principal Sue Jean Hong organized this event with the help of the SRLA coaches and the cheer team. This event was to celebrate and calm the nerves of the runners. The teachers and students all celebrated SRLA runners about to run the marathon.

Hong said, “I’ve done it every year because I feel like they are doing something big and I am proud of the team.”

Anthony Espinal, a 7th grade SRLA runner said, “The dinner is alright because I am having a great time and I feel relaxed with this event.” He enjoyed spending time with the team.

 SRLA coach Gabriela Dampier said, “This is a great tradition and it is fun to get everyone together.” She enjoyed spending time with the team because they create a special bond and it’s cool to hang out with them.  Dampier feels more relaxed than last year but said that she isn’t running it this year.

 Adam Davis, another SRLA coach said, “The lasagna is really delicious, best lasagna I’ve ever had. This is a great way to celebrate because the two sport teams are spending time together and are going to be out on Sunday.” He said this helped calm the nerves down before the race.” Davis said that he felt relaxed because being full made him feel better.

 Priscila Lopez, a 7th grade SRLA runner said, “The dinner is really good especially the lasagna.” Priscila enjoyed spending time with the  team because they all get happy and she said she feels relaxed since she they are being stuffed for the big race.

 Jocelyn Palacios,  a 7th grade SRLA runner said, “The dinner is delicious because Ms. Hong made some good lasagna.” Jocelyn likes spending time with the team because people get all happy and she feels relaxed because this really calmed her down.

 The dinner Hong prepared for the SRLA team and the cheerleaders was to celebrate the event of the marathon, a big thing that many people don’t get to do.
