“The Last Kids on Earth” will make you want to keep turning the page
In the book The Last Kids on Earth, the main protagonist named Jack is trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world all alone with no family or friends with him. The book begins introducing Jack by having him fight a monster, then shows that he was not always this way and shows his life before the apocalypse. It shows that he used to be an orphan and alone because he was adopted only to rake the leaves. It also shows he only had one friend named Quint who he hasn’t seen since the apocalypse started. His mission is to find his friends and defeat the monsters and be known as a hero.
My opinion on this book is that it is a good introduction to the series and gives you the information that you need to understand it. This is important because the reason some books are boring is because they don’t give enough exposition for you to understand the context of the events in the story, but if you give everything away the ending is not as satisfying. Another thing this book does that I enjoy is that has serious, emotional moments other than just having a feeling that everything will be alright. The book also doesn’t just have action the entire time because after a while the book get boring and predictable because the characters don’t develop.
This book is different than most zombie apocalypse books because it has kids as the main characters. The characters give the feeling that it is just some kids having fun instead of only focusing on surviving the threat. This is just the comedy relief the book needs to stop it from becoming repetitive. It focuses more on the lifestyle of trying to make the best of the situation with friends there to help you while trying to live with the downsides.
Overall, I really recommend this book for people who want a new series to read and want something with action and a good conflict. If you need another reason, the book has the perfect blend of action, comedy and characters actually feeling emotion. The only real downside is that people who prefer a book that describes the world the book is based on with details and descriptive writing will have to see a lot of images since this book prefers to use visuals. Other than that I recommend you give this book a try you will probably enjoy it.
