What is reopening in LA County and under what conditions?
LA County is getting ready to reopen most movie theaters, amusement parks, fitness centers, and sports stadiums, while still taking precautions to help prevent the spread of covid.
Movie theaters are going to have 25% indoor capacity and seats are going to be 6 ft apart. According to Deadline.com, “The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed Thursday that the news announced by Newsom a day earlier that movie theaters can open indoors at 25% capacity with reserved seating only where each group is seated with at least 6 feet of distance in all directions between any other groups.”
Amusement parks will be opening on April 1 under certain conditions like 15% capacity, no indoor seating, and limits on indoor rides. Remember masks will still be required. The Los Angeles Times states that, “Capacity will be limited to 15% for parks in counties that are in the red tier; the cap rises to 25% once a county progresses to orange and 35% upon reaching the most lenient tier, yellow.” This means that as the number of covid cases continues to drop, places will be allowed to have more people come in.
Most restaurants have already reopened and are allowing 25% capacity and tables must be 8 feet apart for indoor dining. According to the local news website laist.com, “Under the red tier, restaurants can resume indoor dining with a handful of restrictions, and museums, zoos, aquariums and other venues can reopen at 25% capacity.”
Some other examples of things that have reopened are nail salons, barbershops, and malls. Malls are allowed 50% capacity. According to timeout.com, “All non-essential retail locations (including indoor malls) have been allowed to up their capacity to 50%. And for malls specifically: Food courts can now reopen, but they must follow all of the restaurant guidelines.”
Remember if you go out to apply hand sanitizer, keep your distance, wear your mask, and be safe!
