Which businesses have been thriving through quarantine and which haven’t
Due to quarantine and Covid-19 many businesses have suffered or had bad luck. In my research, I found out what businesses have thrived and which have suffered as Covid-19 and the quarantine have caused dramatic changes to business.
It is imperative to many businesses that they keep on having a booming business and to not have their business fall apart. In the article “Not all is lost: Some businesses are thriving during coronavirus by Kate Fordera” it says ”some restaurants aren’t just open for carryout and delivery — but rather hiring as quickly as they can to staff up and meet demand.” It’s stating that all the pizza places hired lots of people to stock up and be able to deliver to lots more people than usual. They were thinking of ways to deliver even through Covid-19. It also says “Papa John’s last Monday said it would be adding 20,000 workers who can interview and potentially even start that same day.” It says, Pizza Hut added 30,000 positions as well as that Domino’s is looking for 1,000 workers. Those places, Papa Johns, Domino’s, Pizza Hut etc. thought of ways to thrive and make sure their business stays up. This is how they kept their business booming through everything’s that has happened in the world.
Many other businesses have been falling apart due to quarantine and money problems. In the article “Rent Is Due. And Lots Of Small Businesses In Southern California Can’t Pay It” it says “But instead of writing a check, many small businesses in Southern California are writing uncomfortable emails to their landlords. Some are asking for the month off. Some are offering to pay less. Some can still pay in full, but not for much longer.” Small businesses don’t make as much money due to quarantine and with that outcome they do not have enough money to even keep on doing their business. They are trying to do everything they can without customers but due to distance from quarantine they earn less and it becomes hard for them to pay landlords or to get supplies for their business. These business will try to stay open but if they can’t pay they will have to find other ways to keep their business standing.
There are some businesses who are in between and by that I mean thriving enough but still have risks of losing business. In the article “Which small business are most vulnerable due to Covid-19 and when” it tells us “Some small businesses may close because they’re in industries, such as accommodations, food service, and educational services, that are affected by changed customer behavior, especially the physical distancing and mandated operational restrictions that began during the pandemic.” This explains that small businesses are the most vulnerable during quarantine because of distance due to quarantine. They try to think of ways to make it work. Some of the small businesses were impacted but they tried their best and hopefully will keep on pushing through. Unfortunately small businesses have a less chance of thriving which is hard because of what’s going on in the world.
After looking at the articles, it is clear that it is hard to keep a business running because of what has been going on in the world. They all try their best and have different outcomes. Each and every business has tried to survive and keep running during the coronavirus and make sure that nothing bad happens. If we really think about it, many small businesses have it really harder then others business during this time. Overall, this shows which businesses have been thriving and which have not.
