It Is inevitable: you won’t be able to stop reading “Drowning Is Inevitable”

This is the cover of “Drowning Is Inevitable.”

Drowning Is Inevitable is a very adventurous book by Shalanda Stanley. It includes topics such as friendship, teenage life, and love. Olivia’s mom committed suicide when she was barely born. Luckily, Olivia has been best friends with Jamie since they were children and they have a great friendship. But once Jamie makes a huge mistake, what should Olivia do?

Drowning Is Inevitable starts off with Jamie and Olivia being friends. Jamie’s dad, Mr. Benton is always drunk and Olivia helps Jamie forget about it. Jamie’s mom, Mrs. Benton, suffers at home because of her husband. One day, when Jamie and Olivia help Mrs. Benton make supper, Mr.Benton arrives home early from work. Olivia and Jamie notice that he is drunk. Jamie gets into an argument with his dad and things escalate to violence. Olivia fears Jamie getting hurt so she hits Mr. Benton on his head. She then realizes that Jamie stabbed his dad. Jamie runs away and Olivia follows him to offer him help. Olivia asks for backup from her boyfriend Max and her friend Maggie. They run away together and experience weird and scary events.

My opinion on Drowning Is Inevitable is that the book is very entertaining. The characters are interesting and brave. The book is told in first person point of view so it helps understand what Olivia is feeling. This book can make you feel sad, cheerful, and many more emotions. It is a very beautiful and thrilling book.

The beginning of the book has background information about Olivia and her life with her grandmother. Olivia also looks for clues on why did her mom commit suicide at a young age. That helps you understand who Olivia is and the things or people that are important to her. The events in this book are very surprising, which makes the book entertaining. If you enjoy books filled with suspension and adventure, this book is for you. This is definitely a book that I would recommend.

Here is a quote from the book:

“Last times are funny things, because you rarely know it’s a last time until it’s too late.”
