On December 8th Damaris Pereda ran The Diva Run 5K in Ontario CA, which was her first race.

“Ms. Dampier encouraged me to race and Ms. Vorgias gave her running spot,” said Pereda.

Pereda ran the 5K because she thought about how her students last year ran 26 miles. She said, “If they ran 26 miles I can try and do three.”  There were two races going on: the half marathon and the 5K. Pereda passed the finish line at the same time as Carl Finer, but Finer was at the 13th mile while she was at the third mile. Finer started running about one hour before Pereda, but ended up passing the finish line at the same time.
