Everyone knows the classic fairy tale of Cinderella, but have you ever seen the new live action Cinderella movie?

In the live-action remake, Cinderella is played by actress Lily James who starred in multiple TV shows and movies such as Wrath of the Titans and Downton Abbey. The British actress brings the story to life alongside her co-stars Cate Blanchett (Lady Tremaine/stepmother) who played Galadriel in all three Lord of The Rings films and The Hobbit movies, Sophie McShera (Drisella) also from Downton Abbey, Holliday Grainger (Anastasia) from Bonnie & Clyde and Jane Eyre, Richard Madden (Kit/ Prince Charming) from Game of Thrones, and who could forget Helena Bonham Carter (Fairy God-mother), who has appeared in many award winning films like Harry Potter, The King’s speech, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Les Miserables, and Alice in Wonderland.

Math teacher, Thomas Lo says he hasn’t gone to see the movie yet, but he would love to go. “I just prefer live action movies over their cartoon versions. It’s cool how Disney is turning the Cinderella cartoon into a live action Cinderella movie” he says.

Eighth grader, Brittney Gomez from John Adams Middle School has gone to see the movie. “I really like fairy tales; it was somewhat like the Cinderella cartoon movie. My favorite part was that when the fairy godmother came and gave Cinderella the blue big dress.” She loved everything in the movie.

English/Literature teacher, Elizabeth Borum, has gone to see the movie. “I loved the movie. The actors just had a really good chemistry with each other and made it more believable. And the chemistry between Cinderella and the Prince was great.” She feels that there weren’t that many good actors anymore, so seeing the movie was really good. “I really have a hard time choosing between, the obvious answer, Cinderella, and the stepmother as my favorite characters. Even though the father wasn’t in the movie for that long, I really liked him too.” She says that she’d recommend everyone to go see it because it’s really good.

Although there have multiple remakes of the story, this year’s production takes the cake with its actors, setting, costumes, and graphics. Though not everyone may agree.

Science teacher, Adam Davis said that he has not heard of the movie because he really doesn’t watch TV. “The movie Cinderella really doesn’t interests me.”

History teacher, Sherish Jamshed said, “I would not like to go see this movie because I don’t like watching movies of helpless girls.”

Seventh grader, Casandra Castellanos said that she really didn’t like the movie she thought it was going to be interesting but it really wasn’t to her.

Magical or not, the way you see this fairy tale is up to you.
