Otaku Tale

The anime that took the world by storm on April 7th, 2013 and later became a classic that millions would watch is a story where humanity has been pushed behind walls for more than 100 years: Wall Maria, where most villagers live; Wall Rose, where merchants and nobles live; and Wall Sina, where the king’s residence is located. These walls had kept humanity at peace from the ferocity of Titans, who are tall man-eating humans. This story starts in Wall Maria, the biggest wall of them all, where we meet Eren Yeager and his friends Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlert.

It was on that day in the year 845 when suddenly a humongous tall titan appeared over the 50-meter wall and breached the gate, allowing smaller titans to go in and kill people, which caused the titans to move further into the walls.

The story is based around Eren Yeager and his friends fighting titans with the scouts.  For the most part the enemies of humanity have been titans, but that all changes with the introduction into the story of a person that can change between human and titan form. Since Eren, Mikasa, and Armin joined the scouts, there have been countless unanswered questions facing the scout’s headquarters, such as: Is there more to the world beyond the walls?

The final season just came out two months ago and viewer interest has skyrocketed, causing even more people to start watching the anime. I’ve read the manga so I’m ahead of the anime which is why I can tell you with certainty that with everything that has happened there is still so much more left to come.

If you have seen this amazing story, you’ve probably already seen and heard of Levi Ackerman, humanity’s strongest soldier. Many people had questions about this amazing man. There is a spin off series that shows you the life of this soldier before he joined the Scouts and it was incredible. This shows him with his childhood friends living underground and committing crimes. While doing so Levi and his friends encounter the Captain of the Scouts, Erwin Smith. The captain noticed they were using an omni-directional mobility gear, a type of equipment developed by humans that allows great mobility when facing Titans in combat and allows the user to fight in a 3D space as opposed to a 2D one. Because of this, the captain tells them to either join the scouts or get turned in to the authorities. Levi and his friends chose to join the scouts, and because sadly early on his friend died on a mission, Erwin and Levi now share a mutual and equal relationship that is full of trust, care and devotion.

My sister Osiris Ramirez, who has also seen the anime says, “It’s a very thrilling story that is filled with so much foreshadowing that genuinely contributes to the entirety of the story.” “Shinzō o Sasageyo” or “Dedicate your hearts” is a famous quote in the anime said by Erwin Smith.
