The February monthly incentive was an arcade incentive and in order to qualify you needed to have 10 demerits or less. The incentive happened on March 23rd. It was originally planned for February, but it was a bit delayed because the school didn’t have access to the gym in February. There was karaoke, games, prizes and food. If you played the games and won, you would receive a ticket, and with those tickets you were able to win prizes such as candy, plushies, bracelets, tattoos, and stickers. There was also a station where people could play against their friends.

Student Council (Leadership) hosts an incentive for every month. The incentives they’ve done most recently included the arcade, In-N-Out, Harvest Festival, Winter Festival, and many more. Many people said they enjoyed the incentive because they got food, had a chance to play games and spend time with friends. To those who can’t qualify, they get pulled out of class beforehand and go to a different classroom. Even the teachers and staff get to join in the incentives.

Kimberly Alvarado, a Student Council member, enjoyed the incentive because she got to hang out with her friends and play and win prizes. Kimberly said, “I also was able to help with the games and set up,” which is what was able to do because she’s a part of Student Leadership. Omar Hernandez, another student who went to the incentive said, “I didn’t like it that much because there weren’t that many options of games to play, but I did enjoy the karaoke because it was fun to hear other kids sing.”  This shows that not everyone may enjoy the incentives, and that everyone may have different opinions.

February’s incentive in my opinion was okay because there weren’t really that many games and the games were all crowded. However, Student Council works hard to set up each incentive and tries to make it fun for everyone involved. It’s hard setting up an event monthly, but somehow they get it done for the students who have behaved well for the month.
