Have you ever wondered how Hitler started off and how his story was told? His life started in Austria on April 20, 1889 in a small town called Braunau. He was in middle school when his father died and when he had a dream. “He never did want to follow his father’s footsteps of being an officer, but he wanted to be an artist. He was denied by the Vienna’s Academy of Fine Arts,” according to History.

After his mother’s death in 1908 he became isolated and started working on projects, and he became interested in politics and Nazis. He helped Germany to fight in World War I in 1913 and got many medals for bravery and an Iron Cross but got hospitalized for having several injuries. When he left he was told that Germany had lost the war.

When he returned to Munich he joined a Germans’ Workers Party, or the Nazi party. Many army officers changed to being in the Nazis. On November 8, 1923 Hitler and the SAs forced their way through a beer hall. This is where Hitler proclaimed the beginning of a national revolution. Trying to flee Hitler got arrested but was then known as a national figure.

After his release from prison he laid low but developed plans for the Nazi party. The Great Depression that began in 1929 threatened the stability of the Wiemar Republic. Hitler built up Nazi support in order to gain political power among German conservatives, including army, business and industrial leaders.

“Germany’s war strategy was assumed by Hitler from the first. When the successful campaign against Poland failed to produce the desired peace accord with Britain, he ordered the army to prepare for an immediate offensive in the west,” according to Britannica.

Hitler didn’t want any Jews, Slavic people, homosexuals, and Jehovah’s Witnesses (people that deny many traditional Christian beliefs and refuse military service and blood giving on religious grounds) to be alive and wanted all to be killed off. As stated from the National World War II Museum, “Either victory of the Aryan, or annihilation of the Aryan and the victory of the Jew.”

After six years of World War II and Hitler being the leader for Germany, his death would come on April 20, 1945 after committing suicide with his wife. The cause would be because of Soviet troops surrounding Berlin (where Hitler and his wife were hiding).

Five months later on September 2, 1945, Germany would lose the war due to lack of troops, leaders, and resources. Germany got pushed into a defensive state by Soviet forces, ending the Nazi’s and Hitler’s rise to power.

“I think that this has affected us because of the creation of Israel and the Israel war with Palestinians over territory,” stated a history teacher.
