Eighth grade can be really nerve racking and stressful for some students since they have to do so much work since it’s their last year in middle school. Some students say they are excited and some students say they are nervous about the end of eighth grade. Students are happy that this is their last year at middle school and are already prepared to be at high school and have a fresh start.
As eighth graders are getting ready to culminate, we decided to interview and ask a couple of eighth grade students about how they’re feeling about culmination and going into their first year of high school in a few months.
Sarai R.

”I feel great, but also nervous for high school. The thing I like about school is making stories because I actually kind of enjoy it. In the first day of sixth grade I felt nervous ’cause my fifth grade teachers would tell me that middle school was gonna be hard and it was gonna be scary. And so I kind of got scared when they told me that. Some advice for upcoming eighth graders is just do your work and turn it in on time, because later on, you’re gonna be stressed and stress is not good for you.”

“Eighth grade year has been really good for me so far because of all the memories I have gotten the chance to create with all my friends. My favorite part of eighth grade so far has been going on field trips with all my friends and just in general getting to enjoy time with my friends. I’d say, maybe volleyball because I’m already doing that here, so like, I would want to continue that so far.I feel very happy about culminating in a few months because we finally get to go into our first year of high school after summer break and that is also very exciting.”

“Something that was exciting this year was that I was in because I actually learned something. Like in English, I learned a lot and like it’s preparing me to go to high school. I guess, yeah, I do plan on playing sports in high school because right now I’m in volleyball, too, for this school, so I think I’m going to play volleyball again. My advice for upcoming eighth graders is to try your best, don’t give up, and always do your work on time, because if you don’t you will fall behind and you wont be able to accomplish passing eighth grade with the necessary grades and you’re going to have to go to summer school.”

“Hi, my name is Arlene. So far, eighth grade has been great and exciting. I think that because of the friends that I have made so far, and, yeah pretty much. Advice I would give to the upcoming eighth graders would be to do your work and don’t fall behind. One of my favorite memories from eighth grade so far are probably like the field trips. The expectations I had for eighth grade was that I thought it was gonna be harder and more stressful, but I also thought it was going to be. I also thought it was going to be fun, and it was fun because of the new friends I made and the field trips I got to go to with my friends. One of the easiest things about eighth grade was being able to socialize and make new friends. One of the hardest things about eighth grade year was keeping up with the work. I feel excited about going to high school because there’s going to be more opportunities to make new friends and a fresh new start. I feel excited about culminating in June because I get to meet many new people and I’m leaving middle school and going into high school and I also feel nervous because I’m leaving high school after so many years.”
